An exciting opportunity to dive deep into Polish-Jewish history

International conference at POLIN Museum: “1945: Not the Beginning, not the End”.
Just a few days left to submit!

Join us in Warsaw at POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews from June 15-17, 2025, for a crucial conference exploring the remarkable revival of Jewish life in Poland after the Holocaust. This conference, held in conjunction with the exhibition “1945: Not the End, Not the Beginning,” commemorates the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and delves into the complex dynamics of Jewish communities in Poland and other countries in the region during 1945-1955.

We are particularly interested in papers examining the situation of Jewish communities within the Soviet bloc and in Germany’s DP camps, comparing their experiences with those in Poland. The conference will explore the flourishing of Jewish social, political, cultural, religious, and economic institutions in the immediate post-war years, while also addressing the inherent tensions between state support and societal hostility. The eventual imposition of Stalinist uniformity from Moscow and its impact on Jewish institutional pluralism will also be a key focus.

Submit your paper proposal by March 1, 2025! Complete the application form.
