Synoikismos doctoral seminar: “The Meaning(s) of Antiquity: Methods, Challenges, and Perspectives in the Study of the Ancient World.”

We are pleased to announce the call for papers for the next edition of the Synoikismos doctoral seminar: “The Meaning(s) of Antiquity: Methods, Challenges, and Perspectives in the Study of the Ancient World.”

This methodological day, to be held on 4 December 2026 at the University of Liège (Belgium), invites you to present your research in a friendly atmosphere among early-career Belgian and international researchers. Every discipline is welcome, such as archaeology, linguistics, art history, philology, social studies, etc.

Please submit your proposals by 31 July 2026 to the following address: seminar.synoikismos@gmail.com. To structure your presentation and give the day a clear common focus, we invite you to base your presentation on a concrete case study. We encourage you to highlight the stakes of your work, set out your research questions, and underscore the limitations of your study.

Presentation proposals (in French or English) must include:
• Institutional affiliation;
• An abstract of no more than 300 words.
