Heurystyki “Przekraczanie granic. Człowiek i przestrzeń w badaniach humanistycznych”

On 20 March 2025, in the lecture hall of the Old Library Building, the next edition of ‘Heurystyki’, a series of UW Doctoral Schools’ seminars initiated by the Rector of the University of Warsaw, Professor Alojzy Z. Nowak, and organised under his patronage, took place. During the latest meeting, the doctoral students form the Disciplines of Linguistics, Literary Studies and History presented the results of their research in the presence and with the substantive support of their supervisors.
During the seminar, entitled PRZEKRACZANIE GRANIC. CZŁOWIEK I PRZESTRZEŃ W BADANIACH HUMANISTYCZNYCH, following doctoral students delivered their lectures:
– mgr Katarzyna Žák-Caplot, who is conducting research in Linguistics, mentored by prof. dr hab. Grzegorz Leszczyński (Faculty of Polish Studies) and dr Karolina Ziębińska (Museum of Warsaw): „W muzeum uczymy się znajdować wspólny język z ludźmi”. Muzeum Warszawy jako przestrzeń edukacji językowej.
– mgr Karolina Załęska, who is conducting research in literary studies, mentored by dr hab. Dorota Babilas, prof. ucz. (Faculty of Modern Languages, Institute of English Studies): (Geo)literatura między teorią a praktyką. Twórczość Jane Austen, sióstr Brontë i Elizabeth Gaskell wobec problematyki przestrzeni.
– mgr Mikołaj Stachera, who is conducting research in history, mentored by dr hab. Jerzy Kochanowski (Faculty of Culture and Arts, Institute of Art History): „Palę — więc jestem”: konsumpcja tytoniu a płeć i przestrzeń w II RP.
Apart from a large number of doctoral students, the event was attended by His Magnificence the Rector of the University of Warsaw, prof. Alojzy Z. Nowak, the Vice-rector for Doctoral and Legal affairs, dr hab. Adam Niewiadomski, prof. ucz. , the heads of Doctoral Schools at the UW, deans of humanities faculties, as well as supervisors.
