Archaeologist by profession (graduate of archeology at the Institute of Archeology of the University of Warsaw) and by passion, with excavation experience gained at archaeological sites in France, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Libya and Cyprus (from 2018).

From the very beginning of her professional career she is associated with the University of Warsaw. In the years 2012-2016 Senator of the University of Warsaw; in the years 2012-2020 a member of the Programme Board of the Digital Competence Center of the University of Warsaw (formerly COME UW); from 2009 Rectors’ Plenipotentiary for Children’s University; from 2016 Head of the Doctoral Studies at the Faculty of History at the University of Warsaw (currently the Faculty of Arts and Culture); from 2020 Head of the Department of History of Culture, Institute of Art History, Faculty of Arts and Culture.

Beneficiary of fellowships granted by French government (1995), Italian government (1998), Andrew W. Mellon Foundation (2002), Lanckoroński Foundation (2007, 2010, 2016). Since 2016 – member of the Commission on the Mediterranean Archaeology in Polish Academy of Arts and Sciences (Polska Akademia Umiejętności; since 2019 – expert in the field of Archaeology in Polish Accreditation Commission.

Her research interests include classical archaeology, its history and significance in European culture; Polish and European interests in Greek and Roman antiquities in the modern era, especially traveling, collecting and early scientific research; Hellenistic and Roman residential architecture in its structural, spatial and decorative aspects, in the Eastern Mediterranean area, with particular emphasis on Cyrenaica and Cyprus.

Graduate of Oriental Studies of the University of Warsaw, specialization in Mongolian and Tibetran studies; intership in the Mongolian National University, scholarships at Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest (1988/89), Olso University (NAVF, 1993), Bonn University (DAAD, 1995/96), Indiana University in Bloomington (2000).

She has gained professional experience working in the Institute, later Faculty of Oriental Studies of the University of Warsaw, Institute of Oriental Studies at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, Collegium Civitas and as a sworn translator for Mongolian language. She gave many talks and lectures at foreign universities.

Senator of the University of Warsaw, Head of the Senate Commission for Students, Ph. Candidates and the Quality of Teaching (in 2020-21); deputy coordinatr of the Flagship 2 of 4EU+ University Alliance; President of the Polish Society for Oriental Studies; Vice-President and Secretary of the Committee of Oriental Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences; member of the Council of Discipline of Literary Studies at the University of Warsaw; since 2004 Head of the Department of Turkish Studies and Inner Asian Peoples of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Warsaw.

Her research interests include literature and culture of Mongolia and Tibet with special emphasis on Buddhism; book culture, manuscriptology of Mongolian and Tibetan sources; history of science regarding Oriental Studies, particularly on Polish researchers of Inner Asia and Siberia.

She carries out interdisciplinary research implementing methods of literary studies (especially critical edition of sources) and cultural and religious studies conducting Polish grants or as a member of foreign project teams (Oslo, Shimane, Kyoto, Beijing, Ulan Bator, Osaka).
