Appointment of supervisors – 1st year

In accordance with the SDNH Regulations (§ 16(1)), first-year doctoral students are required to submit an application for the appointment of a supervisor, accompanied by a statement from the person declaring their willingness to undertake supervisory duties [FILE_1].

At the same time, you may apply for the appointment of an additional supervisor [FILE_2] or an assistant supervisor [FILE_3]. If necessary, a separate application (including justification) should be submitted, which should also be approved by the candidate for the main supervisor (all included in the prepared document templates referred to in the links above).

The submitted applications are put to a vote by the members of the SDNH Council, and supervisors are appointed on the basis of a resolution adopted on the basis of the voting results, no later than three months from the date on which the doctoral student commences their studies.

Signed and completed applications should be sent to phd.nh@uw.edu.pl by 31 October 2025.

The supervisor may send their statement of readiness to supervise the doctoral student directly to phd.nh@uw.edu.pl.

PLEASE NOTE! If you are applying for a person from outside the University of Warsaw (applies to assistant and additional supervisors), it is mandatory to attach a completed personal questionnaire. This information is necessary in order to enter the person into the POLon system. Personal questionnaire: [LINK].
