Call for submissions for issue 1/2027 of ‘Słowo i Czas’ (Слово і Час)

Dear Sir or Madame,

The editorial board of the academic journal “Slovo i Chas” (“Слово і Час”) invites submissions for issue 1/2027, devoted to the theme of nomadism and refugeehood in literature and culture (with particular emphasis on texts after 1945).

We welcome contributions addressing the topic within the following thematic areas:

1. Nomadism in literature – analysis of representations
   How the figure of the nomad or wanderer functions in literature as a metaphor, myth, and narrative construct.
2. The experience of refugeehood in literature – analysis of the existential dimension
   Trauma, corporeality, memory, and forgetting in texts shaped by forced movement.
3. Literary studies among nomads – analysis of the researcher’s position
   The researcher as a translator, mediator, or co-creator of nomadic culture.
4. A postcolonial perspective on nomadism and refugeehood – critical theoretical frameworks
   Questions of power, ethics of representation, the orientalization of the nomad, and paternalism toward the refugee.

Submission guidelines:

• original scholarly articles in Ukrainian or English are accepted;
• length: 22,000 to 40,000 characters;
• submission deadline: June 30, 2026;
• expected publication date: early 2027.
